Kim is the founder of Fearless Surfer. As surf mental coach she helps especially women to overcome their fears of surfing. Topics addressed in her coaching and retreat programs are the fear of high waves, building confidence in the (often times male-dominated line up), calming techniques and building a community of like-minded surfer women!

My name is Lena, I was born in Germany but spent a lot of time by the sea in order to pursue my passion of surfing until I finally moved to Portugal in 2019. There I found myself living a dream of surf, yoga and social connections. I wanted to make it possible for more people to make experiences like this and created my holistic retreat brand called Higher Frequency Retreats.

My name is Roxana Turnbo , born in Miami Beach, Florida in 1984 and now have lived in Wahiawa, Hawaii for almost five years. It’s here in Hawaii where I’ve given birth to the start of my dreams. One of them being; I own Surfer Girl Hawaii a company that offers Handmade fashion designed by me, Waterproof Cosmetics, and organic skincare for surfers and women that lead an active lifestyle.

Nalu Project is a surf brand from Portugal started by Eva Diemer. She started to use old wetsuits and converting them into beautiful neoprene products.

Eva shared with us in this interview her story of building a sustainable surf business.

Marie is from Hamburg, Germany, but lives part of the year in Bali where the pieces of her surfwear label Zealous (founded in 2010) are produced. Tania Rosenkranz is the founder of Free Your Mind Experience, which is not only a kite school based in Tarifa. It’s a way of life, a different “experience” where to discover kitesurf, catch the best waves, explore undiscovered spots in Morocco, Spain, and other destinations around the world.

Yvette Curtis is the founder of Wave Wahines, a nonprofit organization that aims to empower girls through surfing as a “girls only surf club”. Based in Croyde, a place with beautiful beaches and good surf at the coast of the UK, she tells us about her motivation, struggles and advice for all the other surfpreneurs out there.

When Aideen returned to Ireland after her trip she joined a meetup.com group and went on a surfing weekend in Bundoran, on the west coast. She wasn’t sure she’d enjoy cold water surfing, but just being in the water and connecting with like-minded people was so amazing I kept going back. 

Surf Getaways was created by one of Australia’s most accomplished and accredited female surf coaches, Serena Adams and Belinda Bradford an avid traveler, surfer, and experienced commercial marketer and entrepreneur. Their aim was to make surfing accessible for women of any age.

Lucia Roman is a creative, surfer and soul behind Ninefoot Studio. She established Ninefoot as a swimwear line, made with high ends recycled fabrics, manufacturing in small quantities, and working with small workshops, and slowly building up the business. Lucia previously worked in the fashion industry as a designer for more than 9 years. She was fed up with the 9-5, so four years ago, she moved from LA to Bali.

I’m Kim - 27-year-old German who moved to Lisbon 2 and a half years ago to escape the grey and rainy weather in Germany and to be closer to the beaches and ocean. After I finished my Master’s degree in Lisbon last year, I’ve started WONDA - An environmentally conscious swimwear brand aiming to provide a solution that fits every body shape. All our bikinis are made from recycled ocean and landfill plastic waste and are locally and fairly produced in a small factory in Lisbon.
